Outcast is the brand new new song from Threat To Survival, the forthcoming fifth studio album by American hard rock band Shinedown. The record which is the first album by the band since 2012’s Amaryllis, will be released on September 18th via Atlantic.
Shinedown frontman Brent Smith explains about the meaning of the album title – “Threat To Survival refers to that primal instinct in all of us that determines how we respond to crisis and conflict – the idea of fight or flight and the choices we make in any given situation. This album represents those deciding moments for us as a band. It’s a collection of scenarios that made us who we are, and is, by far, the most autobiographical album we’ve created to date.”
Brent Smith also told the Pulse of Radio about the musical content of the album – “It’s a devastating record. It’s a heartbreaking record. It’s a beautiful record, but it’s ferocious.”
Shinedown have already made the songs State Of My Head, and Black Cadillac available for streaming, in addition to a video clip for Cut The Cord directed by Darren Doan. Brent Smith said about the Cut The Cord – “In your truest moment of weakness. When everyone and everything has betrayed you, and evil and hatred has wrapped itself around your mind, body and soul, this is the song that you play. This is the statement to the world that you will not give up, you will not give in, and you refuse to fail! Now is your time, to cut the cord.”
