Soilwork 20 More Miles Music Video

20 More Miles is the closing track on seventh Soilwork album, Sworn To A Great Divide.   The album features vocal production from Devin Townsend who was unable to produce other parts of the album due to schedule conflicts.   Sworn To A Great Divide is another very accessible album from the band who began incorporating more and more alternative metal elements into their music from the Natural Born Chaos onwards, moving further and further out from their pure melodic death metal roots with each subsequent album.

Sworn To A Great Divide comes four records into this musical progression and incorporates elements of metalcore and alternative metal, with most of the songs having a very standard sort of structure, while remaining supremely melodic.   20 More Miles is another example of this, and is a very good song and music video.

Sworn To A Great Divide turned out to the bands best commercial effort in terms of sales at the time of its release, selling over 5000 copies in the US alone in the first week of its release and peaking at number 148 on the Billboard 200, in addition to showing well in most of the other worldwide charts.  it has received generally positive reviews from various media outlets, among the praise received is the natural evolution of the sound from previous records.

20 More Miles Lyrics:

Here lies the quest
Right upon you
It’s time to make a stand
Now, whether you like it or not
You better deal with it once again
This time it’s essential
This time it’s for real
In life there’s just questions
Successively wasting your time
A gradual restraint of the mind

I let my feelings show, don’t know where I’m at
It doesn’t give you the right to use me…
I know I’m better than that…

My emptiness fills the holes of your predictable questions…
So give me no lectures, don’t you sell me your kind

20 more miles in the rain
20 more getting drained
I can’t redeem myself
But I still can figure it out

20 miles in the rain
20 more getting sane
I shouldn’t reveal myself
But I still could figure it out

Don’t let me go through this with nothing
Nothing to salvage a possible fall
Though I still have my conscience to guide me
It concerns me enough to believe

I let my feelings show, don’t know where I’m at
It doesn’t give you the right to use me…
I know I’m better than that…

My emptiness fills the holes of your predictable questions…
So give me no lectures, don’t you sell me your kind

20 more miles in the rain
20 more getting drained
I can’t redeem myself
But I still can figure it out

20 miles in the rain
20 more getting sane
I shouldn’t reveal myself
But I still could figure it out
